About Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are commonly used to sculpt the face by restoring volume and definition to the face and lifting the skin. There are a variety of approved filler products that are used by aesthetic practitioners. Hyaluronic acid filler is the most common used filler today. It can be naturally occurring in our body and it is slowly broken down by our body. It takes about 12 months for hyaluronic acid fillers to metabolise.

What areas can we treat?

Dermal fillers can be injected in different parts of the face. The most common areas where fillers can be used are temple, tear trough, nose, cheek, nasolabial fold, lip etc. It can also be used to reduce the appearance of facial scars.

Which filler product do I need?

There are many filler products on the market. Each product is uniquely formulated to have a certain texture, density, and injection depth, which means that different fillers work better for different injected areas. An experienced and qualified provider will be able determine the suitable choice of filler product for you depending on your choice of injected sites. 

When it’s not suitable?

Most patients will be fine to undertake dermal fillers injection, however, in certain circumstances, dermal fillers are not recommended:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • If there is active skin inflammation or infection in or near the areas 

How long can it last?

The duration of fillers last for will depend on the filler material used. The most commonly used filler material at Yuchi Medical is hyaluronic acid and that can last 6-9 months.

Is the procedure painful?

The procedure may cause discomfort but it is not overly painful. Ice pack will be applied before the procedure to ease the discomfort and pain.

Are there any side effects?

The common side effects includes bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and slight bleeding at the injected sites. These reactions are temporary and typically subside within a week.
